About the Local governments
Borama Local Government is a public and semi- autonomous institution that was established in Somaliland in 1994 with the aim of: (i) Providing regular public sanitation/hygiene services; (ii) Providing regular public works and urban development services for repairing and maintaining local public services facilities (health, education, water, solid waste dumpsites, markets, roads, culvert bridges, open water storm drainage systems, public street lights, local road networks etc.); (iii) Maintaining internal security-policing services (Public order services); (iv) fostering local economic development ventures such as direct project investments; (v) Providing regular provision of public utilities such as urban water supply, electricity and telecommunication; and (vi) Providing municipal planning and developing local natural resources such as land development and land use systems (residential, commercial, industrial, wildlife, greenhouses, public and private recreation commonly used public facilities, etc.).
